Founded in 1987 as a statewide, nonprofit intermediary, Finance Fund is dedicated to creating possibility and providing opportunity for a better quality of life.   Finance Fund finds funding and provides resources to support organizations that assist low- and moderate-income families and communities.  Grants and loans are made ONLY to organizations that are a) members of the Finance Fund [membership details on web site; annual dues range from $35 to $500], and b) non-profit organizations that have been granted "501-c-3" status by the Internal Revenue Service.   Development projects themselves may be non-profit or for-profit, but Finance Fund monies must be used by/through a 501-c-3 organization.  Eligible projects are those that bring about improvement of neighborhood commercial areas through rehabilitation or construction of industrial, retail or office space, creates permanent, private sector jobs that strengthen an area's economic base.
