Corporation for Enterprise Development

http://cfed.org/     Contact:  National Office, 1200 G Street NW, Suite 400,  Washington DC 20005. Phone: 202.408.9788.   Email: info@cfed.org.   The web site says:  "The Corporation for Enterprise Development is a national nonprofit based in Washington, DC dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for low-income families and communities....  Our current programs, research and policy advocacy fall primarily in the following issue areas:  Savings and Financial Security, Affordable Housing, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development."    CFED attempts to assist microenterprise developers through the "Self-Employment Tax Initiative"--to demonstrate how local organizations can use the tax code to deliver essential business development and financial services to low-income entrepreneurs (no local partner in Ohio as yet).  CFED also provides a "State Microenterprise Association Capacity Building Toolkit," which could be useful in Ohio, as there is, as yet, no statewide microenterprise association officially organized.  CFED's list of national partners is worth paying attention to, as it includes (among others):  Center for Rural Affairs, Center for Rural Entrepreneurship,
Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education, National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship.
