For nearly two decades, AEO and its hundreds of member organizations have helped more than two million entrepreneurs support themselves and their families and contribute to their communities through business ownership."  AEO connects budding microenterprise-entrepreneurs with its members across the US; those members may offer guidance about micro-finance, training, mentorship, and financial or tax advice.  AEO has also developed a set of standards and a certification program in which members/microenterprises may participate.  AEO maintains efforts that focus on development of "green" businesses, a special interest in rural businesses, and action in support of women entrepreneurs.
